  1. Thank you for your interest in Backer 4.0!

  4. You will find Backer extremely helpful with all 
  5. tasks related to files and directories on your 
  6. computer(s). Any computer that can run Windows 95 
  7. or Windows NT 4.0 can run Backer.
  8.  
  9. All users should read the Introduction in the 
  10. Online Help.
  11. If you have already worked with previous versions 
  12. of Backer then switching will cause no problems.
  13. If you are a new user please work through the 
  14. examples in the Online Help and use only the 
  15. "Express Setup" in the first time.

  17. Installation
  18. ------------
  19. For installation run SETUP.EXE.
  20. HINT: If existing, deinstall an earlier version of 
  21. Backer 4 before installing this version, or choose 
  22. a different directory for the new installation. The 
  23. setup program will not overwrite existing files.

  25. Update from 3.0
  26. ---------------
  27. The update from 3.0 to 4.0 is free for registered 
  28. customers. The license data are the same. Here is 
  29. how to do it:
  30. 1. The license data for version 4.0 are expected in 
  31. the file "Backer40.ini" in Backer's directory. 
  32. Delete this file if it already exists.
  33. 2. The license data for version 3.0 are in the file 
  34. "Backer32.ini" in your Windows directory. Copy this 
  35. file to Backer's directory.
  36. 3. Rename "Backer32.ini" to "Backer40.ini".
  37. 4. Start Backer 4.0.
